Bedale Archaeology & History Society
Bedale Archaeology and History Society, Bedale
For the foreseeable future, however long that may be, our talks are going to be held via Zoom. Through the wonders of modern technology you will be able to see and hear our speakers on your screens, see their slides and make comments and ask questions at the end without going out into the cold, dark and possibly wet. As a non-member of the Society you will not even be expected to put any coins into the box (though donations will of course be gratefully received)!
Tuesday 1 Dec. - The Pontefract Murder - a gruesome tale related by Eric Jackson of Pontefract & District Family History Society
The following talks have been confirmed for 2021, currently expected to be by Zoom:
Tuesday 2 Feb. 2021 - Other People’s Graves - Eric Houlder LRPS MIfL
Tuesday 6 Apr. 2021 - Æthelflæd, the Lady of the Mercians - Jenny Ashby, Yorkshire English Companions
To register your interest in any of these talks (and for details of how to make a voluntary contribution to our costs) please e-mail email@example.com as soon as possible.
BAHS is an active archaeology and history society, founded in 1999, covering Bedale and the surrounding area. We have a varied programme of talks usually held at 7.30 pm on the first Tuesday in the month in Bedale Hall. Our speakers include professional archaeologists and historians and experienced amateurs. We organize visits to local places of archaeological and historical interest. We also carry out research into topics of mainly local and regional interest, with site visits and many opportunities for fieldwork. We have links with similar groups in the region, giving members even more opportunity for involvement. We welcome everybody interested in archaeology and history, irrespective of their level of knowledge and experience.
The annual subscription is £12 per adult (schoolchildren and full-time students free) and is due in January. Non-members are very welcome to attend meetings and trips for a charge of £3 (schoolchildren and full-time students free).
All talks take place in Bedale Hall on Tuesdays and start at 7.30 pm.
