About
Over and above our continued role to support carers and those isolated under normal times in the community - SRCR were asked by NYCC to undertake a wider Covid-19 response role and establish the Ryedale Community Response Organisation in partnership with Ryedale Carers Support and Ryedale Community Transport.
We have done this with our usual 150% energy - and so far have supported the recruitment, training and induction of 135 NYCC Community Response volunteers and are offering on-going support to over 320 households across Ryedale district - this number increases daily!
Our work extends to supporting many of the local town/village networks as they work to bring together invaluable spontaneous volunteering at a very local level.
- Support for individuals - for those in greatest need with no network of family/friends to help. We support with Food and Medication collection; supporting with regular telephone befriending and welfare checks
- Conduit for information to and from NYCC and RDC into the community
- Information, advice and support for Local Network/Group partners
- Information, advice and support for the induction, management and deployment of volunteers
- Central point for gathering relevant local information and updating the new RDC community website page (due on line next week)
- Signposting to the appropriate National, regional and local helplines/organisations for specialist support
- Access point for the NYCC Covid-19 Support Fund (available to individuals experiencing financial hardship as a result of Coronavirus - food vouchers)
