Busy Buddies enables people with a range of additional support needs including mental health conditions, learning and physical disabilities to volunteer in the local community - facilitated by Hambleton Community Action - this project initially ran in the Northallerton area. Its reach is now being extended to the Richmond area.
To date the Busy Buddies have embraced volunteering opportunities from a range of charitable organisations helping with activities including leaflet distribution, food preparation and waitress services, car parking attending and supporting events such as the Northallerton Carnival, as well as creating their own initiatives such as the monthly social/activity event at the Greyfriars Housing Complex and the 'Afternoon Coffee Event' in Richmond Town Hall.
The Busy Buddies Project aims to help volunteers to refresh and learn new skills and also aims to reach out to the wider community to help promote social inclusion and a greater sense of community.
