Hambleton Community Action - Shopping Angels
Hambleton Community Action, Northallerton
The Shopping Angels service aims to support older people in Northallerton, Bedale and the surrounding villages get out of their homes to do their own shopping at the local supermarkets and/or shops.
Volunteer 'Shopping Angels' will support people who are unable to take themselves shopping due to disability, age or where they live by offering them transport and support in the shops if needed.
Volunteers will offer transport to and from the shops, go around the shop and provide help with things such as reading labels, reaching items, reading small print, help with bags etc.
The scheme aims to offer a social benefit by enabling people to remain more independent whilst providing them some support, much needed company and perhaps the chance of going for a tea or coffee before or after shopping.
