Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale Mind
We are a small, local charity providing mental health outreach support across the Scarborough, Whitby, Esk Valley and Ryedale areas.
We provide support to people aged 16+ experiencing mental ill health to help people:
- Become healthier and better manage their mental health
- Lead full, independent and rewarding lives
- Become more involved, included and active in community life
- Reach their potential and the life they want to lead
Our core service is called Side by Side, which provides personalised, one to one support to people aged 16+ with a Mind worker and/or volunteer. The service is goal orientated, addressing individual needs and aspirations to tackle issues in life that are causing mental ill health. This could include support to become more active, find new friends, take up employment or learn techniques to manage stress. Side by Side also runs monthly drop in's for people to access one off help or chat to a worker about our services as well as small group peer support courses (6 weeks) where you can learn a range of self management skills, boost your self esteem and talk to other people facing similar challenges.
We have a range of other services including Social Prescribing, support with benefits and debt, mental health surgeries, telephone support and a Friday social group. We also deliver workshop programmes on a range of topics such as building self-esteem, managing anxiety and stress, building relationships, self-advocacy, anger management and assertive communication. Please check our website or get in touch to see what service may be most suitable for you.
We also provide a range of "off the shelf" and bespoke training to businesses, voluntary and community sector organisations, schools/colleges, health/social care and individuals including First Aid for Mental Health, Hoarding Awareness, Suicide Awareness & Prevention, Workplace Mental Health Awareness. We are working in partnership with a number of local businesses to support them to develop best practices in the workplace to promote good mental health to their employees, create a mentally healthy environment and ensure that senior managers have suitable training to support employees who may be struggling with mental health.
