Caring Together Whitby and District

Caring Together Whitby and District, Whitby

Volunteers provide a sitting service for (unpaid) carers or visit older people living alone who are at risk of social isolation. Through out the year we organise community-based activities for clients and carers. Our services are delivered by unpaid volunteers who are police-checked and given basic training; their main aim is social interaction - a drink and a chat, or sometimes support to attend community activities. Our volunteers do not get involved in personal care, supervision of medication or lifting and moving support.  We are also have monthly community-based social activities aimed at people who need support to get out - using accessible transport and venues which are wheelchair and walking aid friendly. Current events are the 'Community Breakfast' held at Lythe village hall (monthly on a Wednesday morning); at 'Hinderwell' Teas at Hinderwell . We always welcome more volunteers throughout the Whitby and District area, for anyone with a hour or more to spare, with volunteer opportunities in town, rural Whitby and the Esk Valley. We.d also be pleased to hear from anyone willing and able to become a volunteer.
