Sunbeck Hambleton and Richmondshire Pupil Referral Service
Hambleton and Richmondshire Pupil Referral Service, NORTHALLERTON
Sunbeck is the Pupil Referral Service for the Hambleton & Richmondshire areas of North Yorkshire. We are proud to work with young people aged 11 – 16, who have experienced challenges in their school environments.
Over the last 10 years, we have worked closely and successfully with schools in our local area, and sometimes schools from other authorities, to achieve positive and engaging learning experiences for students. This is on either a short term or longer term basis. Students attending Sunbeck are offered a broad curriculum including academic subjects, vocational qualifications, career work and enterprise opportunities. This is all delivered alongside work on their social and emotional development. Our aim is to help students to develop a sense of pride, respect and success during their time with us and in the future.
Our service is currently in a transition phase as part of the SEND strategic plan, written by the Local Authority. Whilst we wait for the finer details to be published, an additional focus of our work will be to prevent exclusions in schools, through offering packages of education that enable students to address issues before exclusion happens. We are currently working with our partner schools and the Local Authority to make sure young people’s needs are met in the right way.
This is an exciting and challenging time in our service’s development. I am confident that the experience, tenacity, and dedication shown by the team here will continue to have a positive impact on the lives of young people and their families in the future.
The Hambleton & Richmondshire Pupil Referral Service’s vision is focused on improving the life chances of the students in our community.
We will do this by delivering a personalised curriculum and supporting the individual needs of our pupils in a welcoming and safe environment.
Through our community expectations of Pride, Respect and Succeed, we aim to be an outstanding provision that enables young people and staff to reach their potential and develop into successful individuals.
