Yorkshire Veterans Model Group

About

The YORKSHIRE VETERANS MODEL GROUP aims to help Veterans of our Armed Forces and ‘Blue-light’ services interested in model-making as a hobby. We’re a club for Veterans, run by Veterans and our model workshops develop (or renew) interest in making models from plastic kits or scratch-built from other materials.

Model groups provide a 'focal point for endeavour' - a long-winded way of saying it enables a sense of well-being and accomplishment. Groups help reduce social isolation by providing a hobby that can be shared with many others. We know that people in all walks of life who come together to talk and share their interests, gain an essential sense of belonging and of shared values - and so it is with modelling. For Veterans, making models has proven therapeutic values and is now frequently used in several MOD rehabilitation programs for those recovering from life-changing injuries. We have the support of several Veteran agencies and are proud to be the first modelling group to sign the Armed Forces Covenant.

Veterans who cannot attend our workshops can still participate in modelling and we can provide the necessary tools and equipment to get you started in person or by post. During times where social isolation is necessary, please also make contact directly by telephone or by the email shown below.
