Terms and conditions

The North Yorkshire Council Community Directory provides information to the public and is maintained by North Yorkshire Council (“the Council”). Anyone who relies on this information does so at their own risk.

By accessing and using the directory, you are agreeing to these terms and conditions, which take effect from the first time you use the directory.

 

Use of the directory

This directory is free to use and contains information given to the Council by third parties including community organisations. The Council takes no responsibility for the accuracy of information supplied in this directory.

The information on this site is to only be used by members of the public who are looking for services or community groups. However, as stated in the privacy notice, this information will be shared with www.datanorthyorkshire.org.

The Council will not be held responsible for any loss or damage suffered as a result of using the information contained in the directory or any goods or services purchased from any organisation listed.

The inclusion of an organisation in the directory does not mean the Council endorses that organisation or its services. The Council is not responsible for the content of third party websites and a link to an external website does not imply an endorsement of that website.

 

Background checks

Unless stated in the directory, the Council has not conducted background checks or other forms of due diligence against the organisations listed (for example, Disclosure Barring Service checks). Users are advised to undertake your own checks and verifications prior to engaging the services of any provider listed.

 

Registering with the directory

You can register with the directory if you are:

  1. a community or voluntary group located in North Yorkshire; or
  2. provide a community service to North Yorkshire.

All data (except for the information provided under the ‘Your Details’ section) that you provide when registering will be shared publically. There is clear direction of what data is and is not shared on the sign-up screen. It is your responsibility to ensure the data you provide is correct and up to date.

From time to time, the Council may restrict access to some parts of the directory to registered users. The Council reserves the right to delete any directory entry at any time and for any reason.

By using the directory, you agree that all data you provide is accurate. The Council will not be responsible, or liable to any third party, for the content or accuracy of any materials posted by you.

You must not misuse the directory or the Council website by knowingly introducing viruses, Trojans, worms, logic bombs or other malicious or harmful material. You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the directory or Council website, the web server or any other server, computer or database connected to the sites.

Any user identification code, password or other information given to you as part of our security procedures, must be treated as confidential, and must not be disclose to any third party.

 

Viruses, unavailability and jurisdiction

The Council recommends that you run an anti-virus program on all material downloaded from the internet. The Council cannot accept responsibility for any loss, disruption or damage to your data or computer system, which may occur whilst using material that came from the directory.

The Council will not be liable if for any reason the directory or Council website is unavailable at any time or for any period and reserves the right to withdraw or amend the directory or website without notice.

All legal issues arising from or related to the use of the North Yorkshire Community Directory are governed and determined by the laws of England. Any dispute arising under these terms and conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.

 

Data maintenance and your responsibilities

If your entry meets the criteria , it will be validated and published within 2 working days.

To ensure the site remains valid and up to date, you will be asked to check, update and amend your entries every 6 months from the date of publish, if you do not update your entry at this point your entry will be unpublished from the site until you do so.

Before your entry is unpublished we will send you two separate emails prior to the two weeks of the sixth month as a reminder than your entry needs checking.

 

Data retention, deletion & unpublishing

By providing your data to be published on North Yorkshire Connect, you accept and agree that we reserve the right to remove, un-publish and delete any entry that does not meet the criteria set in the Terms and Conditions.
